History of Firefighting in West Pittston

The West Pittston Historical Society will present a program on the history of the borough’s Hose Company #1 and the Goodwill Hose Company. The presentation on the early years of firefighting will include many historic photos of the original West Pittston firehouse, firefighters and early fire equipment.  Barry Hosier Sr. and Mary Portelli will collaborate in this presentation that will take place Monday October 17, 6:30pm at the West Pittston Library 200 Exeter Avenue West Pittston. The program is free and open to the public.  Please join us for this interesting and informative presentation.

  • This photo is amazing! I’m sorry I missed the event (by a few years). Are the photos that were presented available for viewing? My great grandfather was Daniel Huddleson (1854-1943). According to his obituary (The Times Leader, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania · Thursday, June 10, 1943, page 10), when he died at age 89 he was the oldest member of the West Pittston Hose Company. I have no pictures of him, and was wondering if anyone knows of any. Thanks!
