Upcoming Program

The Proposed Town of Luzerne “IN” West Pittston

Tuesday April 23, 6:30pm at the West Pittston Library, Exeter Avenue

Before West Pittston became a borough in 1857, a local coal company proposed a new competing town called Luzerne not to be confused with the current Luzerne borough. The new coal company town would encompass a portion of what is now West Pittston Borough. The plan included a beautiful hotel and other amenities but what was the real plan behind the company’s proposal and why did it fail?

Join us for this informative presentation about West Pittston’s early history and learn how the proposed Town of Luzerne could be helpful in researching the history of your West Pittston home.
